Abstract

The workplace at sea is associated with many dangers, depending on the type of ship and its task. The medical equipment depends on the sailing area, the number of people on board and whether a ship's doctor is on board. The aim of this investigation is to test a rescue and evacuation system that meets the requirements of the BG with regard to safety and can also be used on smaller ships. An evacuation and rescue system for shipping in the Maritime Competence Center Elsfleth was examined in a material testing and application investigation. The "SKED Rapid Deployment System - International Orange" from SKEDCO was examined in the study presented. Thus, the SK 650 Rapid Deployment System could be excluded from the list of equipment according to § 108 of the Maritime Labor Act "Committee for medical equipment in maritime shipping" as well as in points 25.0 and 25.01 respectively. Due to their small dimensions and weight, there are also application recommendations for small ships in merchant shipping.
